Cookery School

Garleton Lodge used the lockdown period to make the property ready, diversify their offerings and progress with their Cookery School plans. Working in partnership with nearby Kitchens By Coast they are gearing up to launch a new ‘pop up’ cookery school. Initially offering cookery classes on a local basis, featuring local produce, it is hoped to move quickly to offer classes on a residential basis to guests at Garleton Lodge.

Having run a successful Cookery School in the Middle East, it has always been their intention to add this to their facilities at Garleton Lodge. They were on the point of commissioning the extension to the property to house the Cookery School as lockdown began. The idea behind the ‘pop-up’ is to get the Cookery School up and running as quickly as possible to offer the opportunity for ‘guest experiences’ as something to look forward to after weeks of isolation and lockdown. In addition to Cooking Classes, they will be offering Cookery Demonstrations and also a Chef’s Table.

Handmade Chocolates (The Chocolate Stag)

Garleton Lodge's handmade chocolate business has been up and running successfully for the past 18 months but lockdown gave them the opportunity to trial a new, extended range of mini bars, bars and slabs to add to the existing range of individual chocolates in assorted boxes (6, 12 and 24). They will also shortly be launching their chocolate club and loyalty programme as many people wanted regular supplies of chocolate during lockdown and hope to continue their regular delivery.

Garleton Lodge App

Garleton Lodge develop their own app to enhance guest experience and give visitors the confidence to book stays after lockdown. You can access the Garleton Lodge app here

Owner David Cockerton said:

“After a busy – and worrying - first month of lockdown spent postponing and rearranging this Summer’s bookings we turned our attention firstly to ways to enhance our guest experience and give visitors the confidence to book to stay with us after lockdown. The idea for the app came from this exercise and will now be an important part of our engagement with guests moving forwards.
As lockdown continued, we took a look at our plans for the Cookery School and identified the ‘pop-up’ as a way in which we could get this up and running quickly to offer ‘guest experiences’ – an ideal gift for loved one or an individual treat – either way, something to look forward to after weeks of isolation and lockdown’

Whilst the spa facilities remain closed for the time being, the bar and restaurant will open as normal but subject to social distancing and guests enjoying table service for breakfast.
