HIT scholarship awards for Radisson Blu Edinburgh staff
Eight staff members at Radisson Blu Edinburgh on the capital’s Royal Mile have received a career boost after being among the 218 recipients of a scholarship at the annual Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scotland Emerging Talent Conference recently held in Glasgow.
Announced in front of 400 industry representatives, the scholarships offer aspiring individuals working within or studying towards a career in hospitality invaluable week-long training opportunities in Scotland or overseas. This includes the chance to update their skills and to meet and learn from some leading names in the hospitality industry.
Dasline Muvwanga, Cluster Reservations Manager for Radisson Blu Edinburgh & G&V Royal Mile Hotel Edinburgh and Brian Mantando, Assistant Front Office Manager at Radisson Blu Edinburgh both received a coveted award scholarship for the prestigious Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne in Switzerland. It’s considered to be one of the world’s top schools for hospitality management.
An Early Years Management Scholarship from HIT Scotland was awarded to Florian Chebance, Cluster Senior Groups and Events Executive for both hotels.
Two restaurant shift leaders, Tracy Ho and Ailsa Nolan received a boost to their careers with further training through the Supervisors Scholarship while three front-of-house colleagues were named as recipients of a Customer Experience Scholarship; Claire Calvert (Guest Relations Administrator & Front Office Agent), Paul Reid (Front Office Agent) and Andrea Buergo (Meeting & Events Operations Shift Leader).
Dasline Muvwanga, commented on her scholarship: “I feel very humbled and delighted to win the Lausanne Scholarship. I am very excited and can't wait to go and experience Swiss hospitality at one of the best hotel schools in the world and to learn the very best standards of hospitality service. Looking to the future, I hope the experience will help me to encourage and inspire others.
“I am very grateful to the organisers at HIT Scotland and everyone involved in the selection process.”

Since 1994 HIT Scotland has provided over 1,200 scholarships and more than 10,000 bursaries to the very best and brightest talent within the Scottish hospitality industry.
In 2017, four staff at Radisson Blu Edinburgh (Nick Cross, Jamie Stokes, Kieran McGuckian and Aleksandra Messager) won coveted HIT Scotland Scholarships. Kieran (Assistant Food & Beverage Manager) attended the prestigious Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne in Switzerland.
