Plans for a Major Film Studio and Hotel in the Outskirts of Edinburgh has been backed by the Scottish Government.

The site on Pentland road will include a film and TV studio, a hotel, a film school campus with student accommodation and a power plant

On 21 December 2017, the Board of PSL Land Ltd welcomed the Planning in Principle decision granted by the Scottish Government in favour of Scotland’s first purpose-built international film and television studio complex at Straiton, outside Edinburgh. The Board and associated contractors on the project are now working on detailed planning, continuing their ongoing collaboration with MidLothian Council.

The application for planning permission in principle was made to Midlothian Council, in May 2015 and has proved to be controversial but has since been backed by the Scottish Government and the latest decision document shows development in two sites either side of Pentland Road.

No further details have been shared about the Hotel being built and no start dates have been confirmed, the project has just moved a step closer. We'll share more details as they become available.
