Inspired by Scotland's national tourism strategy, Outlook 2030 and the Scottish Tourism Alliance's activities during the COVID-19 pandemic we invite you to join a global campaign aiming to encourage every accommodation provider and tourism business in Scotland to be an active ambassador for their entire region.

Our digital marketing initiative was developed in response to a statement by Marc Crothall, CEO of the Scottish Tourism Alliance (STA), that became the headline of an article published by The Herald Scotland newspaper on the 2nd June 2020: 'We need all of Scotland to become ambassadors for tourism'.

 

In line of all the current and future challenges imposed by COVID-19, we believe tourism businesses in the entire Scottish region need to embrace a new marketing strategy. While in the past most tourism businesses focused on promoting their services and offerings to a wider audience trying to differentiate themselves from the competition, now is the time to support and promote not only your services, your suppliers and competition but also all businesses that rely on tourism in your region..

 

How can you get involved?

 

  • Communicate with all the local tourism businesses in your region in order to develop joint activities and packages with either an added value or discounted rate. This way visitors can take advantage of services provided by more than one business. 
  • Incorporate the hashtag #ScotlandisCalling in your digital marketing activity targeting visitors outside Scotland.
  • To help locals and national visitors find special packages, deals and events in your specific region, add the region to the hashtag. Example: #ScotlandisCallingGlasgow #ScotlandisCallingEdinburgh #ScotlandisCallingPerthshire #ScotlandisCallingHighlands #ScotlandisCallingAberdeen #ScotlandisCallingAyrshire.
