One Scotland's best luxury hotels has experienced a high number of bookings in the wake of lockdown with guests taking full advantage of their new socially distant-friendly luxury domes for private dining.

Due to the success of launching two outdoor domes when the hotel re-opened on July 15, Meldrum House Country Hotel and Golf Course in Oldmeldrum has been inundated with more than 1,000 diners booking for lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.  As a result, they have invested in a 3rd dome, named Luna, which has just arrived on the luxury estate and is open for bookings from today.

Restaurants and hotels have been hit hard by the pandemic, with indoor seating severely restricted to adhere to social distancing guidelines.  It is wonderful to hear that the outcome has been different at Meldrum House Hotel.

The elegant dining domes are themed by the stars and moon and give the hotel a range of flexibility in numbers. Castor seats 6, Luna can hold 8 guests and a maximum of 12 people can dine in Aurora. These are no ordinary domes.  With wooden flooring, lantern lamps and a Bluetooth music surround sound system, each dome also has a glass door, vents and a  ‘Jet Focus Control’ system to warm or cool the domes when necessary.

Each dome is sprayed twice weekly with disinfectant, proven to kill viruses including Covid-19 for a minimum of 10 days, bringing peace of mind to diners who may be anxious about visiting public restaurants.  Guests can reserve the atmospheric domes with the hotel’s Reception team.

General Manager Jordan Charles said:“

With the launch of Luna, together the 3 domes will create an extra 500+ covers a week.  Castor and Aurora have been open for bookings for almost 6 weeks and have been hugely successful, due partly due to the fact they are socially distant-friendly, keeping contact with other guests to a minimum. With their own waiting staff the luxury domes are in a prime location at the hotel with 360 degree views to the Highland cows, golf course, estate and sky.  They’ve been used by up to 3 different households that want to get together at this time.  We’ve even had our first marriage proposal in one last week.”
